Rollercoaster (3)

Life is a rollercoaster, just gotta ride it!

I don't think Ronan had it quite right there yanno.

I reckon life is a series of rollercoasters and we all move from one to another. Generally our rollercoasters seem to be quite tame, with relatively gentle rises and dips and only the occasional unexpected climb and/or sudden plummet. But, we are creatures of habit and of daring. It's only a matter of time till we get on one of the biggies. These beasts have highs so high that you feel you will orbit, and lows so low you can feel the weight of the earth crushing you.

I'm on one right now, the latter type, the beast of all beasts. There I was yesterday; one minute perched high, on top of the world, in a state of wonder and awe. And the next, I could hear myself screaming "Stop the ride, I wanna get off!" as I tipped over the edge and found myself staring into the biggest black hole imaginable. In fact I very nearly jumped because in the past I learned that jumping clear hurts, but not as much as the inevitable crash would hurt if I had stayed on to the end.

But you know what? I then realised I am not on this ride alone. Not this time. This time I have the best reason on earth to stay. My ride companion is every bit as excited about the highs and as scared about the lows as I am. This time we ride this exhilerating beast together!

So, to quote Ronan again:

On your profile page go to "posts". All posts including hidden ones are listed there. Open the one you want and click on "show"
