Mr and Mrs Skyhook (18)

Being first home and to a computer from the Wedding i get the priveledge of writing up the days events! :) particularly as Mr and Mrs are now off on their honeymoon.

Having travelled down to Southampton the night before, to try to avoid some of the traffic and prevent a massive rush in the morning, we arrived good and early.. after only a 2.5 hour drive from Cambridge! "i only broke the speed limit once officer!!! - (I started breaking it in Cambridge and did so until Southampton!) We unpacked ourselves in the Travelodge and grabbed a bite to eat at the Little chef, which was delightful, the half raw chicken went down a treat; leading to a rather restless night :( and the uncooked sausages this morning in the breakfast lead to an unsettled morning too.

I did myself proud in getting to the church. Being notorious for being late; we arrived an hour early, before the church was even open, so quite a result for me, and it gave us a head start on the drinking time, so we headed for the pub.

The Wedding itself was absolutely beautiful, Jase was calm and composed, looking very suave and looking more certain than i have ever seen a Bridegroom look before. Even though there was an open door right in front of him and no-one blocking it, he didn't appear to even consider running out of it once.

Wench appeared shortly afterwards, fashionably late, as is the Brides perogative. She looked stunning in a white snobz halterneck corset and long skirt, carrying a bouquet of roses and orchids. She looked beautiful and as though she couldn't wait to get to the front to Jase.

The order of service was very full, and it was lovely to see that more time was spent on the marriage itself, and this was clearly the most important part to them, than the partying afterwards, i think many people see Marriage as a thing to do for attention, or for presents or think it is all about how lavish you can make it, but they don't really consider the ceremony itself as the main part. But the looks passing between Bride and Groom were that of pure love and pride, and every word spoken was entirely meant.

I had a few nerves when i got up to do the bible reading and shook more than i knew i could shake, the first problem came in discovering my feet were too big to climb the lecturn steps! I think Preachers and Vicars must have very tiny feet to be able to climb up there. But i got through it, without stammering too much, and i don't think i missed anything out, but i was too busy shaking to notice.

Bride and Groom opted for the traditional wording, and included the words of Obey and worship, which i personally love, and felt were very fitting in this instance. I couldn't help crying during the service as usual, but i cry at all weddings, so nothing new there. Another wry smile occurred when singing the final hymn and the final verse included "give me love in my heart, keep me serving" Clearly a hymn chosen by Wench ;)

After lots of pictures we moved on to the Reception, a lovely relaxed occasion, with no formal seating plan which is always nice - no-one gets offended that way, amusingly when we were sat down, we realised that all of the perverts had somehow congregated at the end of one table, birds of a feather flock together and all that! So that made for interesting conversation. The food was wonderful! although most miffed that they had three of my favourite desserts on offer, and you could only choose one! :( The speeches were wonderful and i cried once again, particularly at the words Jase spoke to Wenches son, a magical and very touching moment, one that will be treasured by him for years to come i am sure.

After food, the disco started with entertainment for the children, which went down very well! and they played some great music. The childrens section ended with what can only be described as a bondage session - the kids having toilet rolls and having a competition to see who could mummify the grownups the quickest.

The Bride and Grooms first dance arrived very quickly - "it must be love" = Madness. And it very clearly was love, watching them dancing, oblivious to anything and everything around them. Followed by Brian Adams - Everything i do (yuk!) normally i hate that song, but watching as they looked into one anothers eyes, and sang the words to one another "i would die for you" i knew, they probably would if it ever came to it, and suddenly that song became quite pleasant! We didn't get time for a boogie ourselves as we had to be back in Cambridge for 11, so missed Mr and Mrs Skyhooks departure as well.

We really did enjoy the day. A huge thank you to you both for inviting us to be part of your very special day, it was a lovely day, truly magical and a genuine celebration of true love that was a priveledge to witness. I am sure you will both be very happy together in the years to come.
