Secret Santa 2007 (11)

SecretSanta2008's profile

Posted by SecretSanta2008 on Tue 4 Sep 07, 7:39 PM to SecretSanta2008's blog.

The time is almost upon us to be thinking and making plans for Christmas. It's only 112 sleeps away now for all those who are reveling in the excitement.

Last years Secret Santa wasn't really much of a success but unfortunately Santa had to deal with some real life issues and was unable to participate and oversee things. This year Santa is back on top form and hoping to make this year a success.

The main problem seems to be people signing up yet not sending gifts in for their recipient. This year if someone sends a gift in for someone who doesn't send one back in return then the person who sent the gift will be contacted to see if it is suitable for another person on the list who has sent but not received. Does that make any sense? So anyone who buys a present will receive a present in return.

So you lot have until the end of September to get your name on the list. The rules are the same as previous years. A small gift which isn't going to cost a fortune to post, wrapped ready for posting with either postage stamps enclosed or stamps already attached.

Can I just clarify something before I decide to put my hat in the ring?

If you bought a present for somebody last year and never recived one in return how is this going to be stopped this time round?

Will it be the case that the final date for all parcels to be in will be early enough and stricty upheld to sort this problem out?

I know that others will disagree, but aint that the beauty of IC?

If you bought last year and never received then I apologise but I was not part of the organising team last year due to my family situation at the time. I did organise it the year prior to that and I hope pretty much everyone did receive who gave but yes this is the issue that really needs to be sorted and I'm hoping this year that it will be successful.

This year my plan is if say A sends in a gift for B but B doesn't send anything in for C then B will not receive. If D sends something in for B then they will be contacted and asked if their gift will be more suited to E, F or G...

I ope this makes some sense. Basically anyone who puts their name in and doesn't send anything in will not receive anything. The gift sent in for them will be distributed to someone else.

All I can ask is people bear in mind when buying their gift that it could end up going to someone else if their initial giftee doesn't respond.

As for the deadlines then yes there will be a strict deadline this year. It will be mid-november so that all presents can then be posted out on the 1st of december (or first day after that if that's a sunday)

There is no limit as I realise it can be quite hard if you feel you are restricted by a budget. I would just suggest this is meant to be light hearted fun so secret gifts of £50 probably aren't the best idea (well unless anyone wants to buy Santa a car then feel free).

If you know your giftee quite well and feel you want to pay extra then feel free to do so but a small novelty gift is what we are aiming for here.

What kind of car can you get for £50 santa !

Oh and by the way folks remember that you have to pay the cost of posting to santa and for santa to post it on to the person !
