In all seriousness, what Gulliani (backed by Clinton) did in NY was amazing. Let's have some of that!

Why can't we have a care-few? A limit of age allowed out at night unaccompanied. And lots of bobbies to keep an eye of the older ones. What we really need is the return of National Service. Will teach them respect. Send 'em all to war! | |||||

I agree with you. The lack of respect for anything in this country has brought us to the point we are now. But it's not just lack of respect for teenagers. It goes further.. the population have no respect for politicians, or anyone making the rules of law, so no-one respects the law. No-one respects the law-enforcers, because by withdrawing to their stations and relying on technology, they miss the ones with the nouse to avoid the cameras, asbos and tags and penalise those that break speed limits by 0.1mph. It seems the government don't even respect those who fight for our country, giving them worse priviledges than prisoners get in jail. No respect for privacy, no respect for property. No respect for ambition or achievement. There are so many other areas where respect is lacking. Someone, somewhere has to start to bring back proper trust and respect into our society.

I agree completely here. But respect wont come by its own, the kids need to be taught it, and the politicians need to be frightened that if they don't give it, they get booted out of office. We need Batman!

The kids need to be taught ... by their parents !! All too often I hear the excuses of not enough education, nowhere for them to play, low family income, etc, etc Now we are talking about problems with teenagers .... respect for others is installed from birth. I raised my two daughters on my own and struggled for many a year for every penny. We have been all but on the street were it not for close family. They did not have all the latest fashion and gadgets. They went without. The area I lived was run down with no ammenities for them. Have they ever been in trouble with the police ? Never .. not once. Have they ever damaged property or robbed/attacked someone ? Again not once. If they had their arses would have been grounded until they left home. Respect ... something I taught them as was my job to. If you have 13-17 year olds out creating fear and damage at 10pm at night ? ... easy ... go to the parents and get them to pay up. Conviscate their TV, DVD, PC, etc to pay the victims. I bet the first time that happens to parents they will suddenly become very interested where THEIR CHILD is and what they are doing "You and you alone make me feel that I am alive. Other men it is said have seen angels, but I have seen thee and thou art enough." ~ George Moore Edited 25 Aug 07, 8:10 PM by Elohims_jay |
