Why an icecream truck is tootling round singing its songs this time in the morning I dont know.

Anyone else find the recorded tinny music as spooky as I do or is it just me. Gives me the eebie jeebies.

A few years ago, very shortly after I moved to where I live now, I was halfway up a wooded hill with my dog, when an ice-cream van pulled into a small estate in the valley below.

There must have been something the matter with its music widget, because it was playing Teddy Bears Picnic, very, very slowly. Very sinister indeed. That was eerie enough but when it stopped, a bunch of dogs began howling.

I thought it was brilliantly surreal! :-) And this happened every week for some months until the music was fixed.

It plays 'Just One Cornetto' now. :-( At normal speed. The dogs still howl though ;-)

After all, all he did was string together a lot of old, well-known quotations. H. L. Mencken, on Shakespeare US editor (1880 - 1956)

Only time you see ice cream vans around here is after 9pm during the colder months. And when I say see, I mean the lights as it's usually too dark to see anything else.

Makes me wonder what's in the sprinkles.

My mum was an extra in the crowd scenes in that film.

I remember a dealy loved little chitty chitty bang bang toy car too, where the winks snapped out at the flick of a switch.

Didnt you know that when they ring the bell or play their chimes it means they have no ice cream left? At least thats what my neighbour used to tell her kids to stop them nagging.

As for the child catcher in Chitty, he terrified me for years.
