I don't think its a matter of who is and who isn't being protected.
The fact is that if family memebers have the same genectical defect, when having childern it can become an issue and is more likely to be passed on through generations.
As for being a social issue, depending on what society you live in the rules change, i know of one remote tribe where it is fine for a Father to take His son into the woods when they come of age, to get a BJ. Sick to English society but not for this one culture |

No the son gives the father the bj, when they are about 13 i think it was ermmm i forgot which book i read it in, some sociology one  read so many of them ....
