OK stop friggin' laughing its not that funny !
In the process of clearing Katt's kitchen for its refit low and behold a cast iron old fashioned griddle surfaced - so under the theory that people will buy anything we Ebayed it for a giggle.
Trouble is that 7 days, 14 watchers and 17 bids later the winning punter happens to be a sweet dear in Canada whos mother has been looking for one for 20 years for her etc. etc.
Therefore at the moment shes looking at a DHL bill of double the cost of the griddle ....... anyone got any thoughts ( practical please not to mention physically possible )
I believe it was Barnum that said " theres one born every minute"

Normally cheaper to ship surface mail (or ship obviously), much cheaper than airmail. | |

You normally find out shipping costs for delivery before listing, I just use the royal mail site and weigh whatever it is. Again I'd have suggested Surface mail but it will take maybe 8 weeks to arrive over there. Listing as worldwide is a pain in the bum, but it does increase sales Miss Kitty

In which case as long as you've ticked all the right boxes for UK only with eBay then you can refuse to go through with the sale and offer it to the second highest bidder - or relist again... If you really want to block out of UK sales then you can set your selling preferences to reflect that and it will prevent overseas buyers from bidding in the first place. To be honest - if your buyer is willing to pay and to wait - then once you've agreed a price - your packaging and trip to the post office is virtually identical whether you're sending abroad or within the uk.

Point out to the would-be buyer that you had stated UK sales only but are willing to make an exception if she is willing to pay the postage and packaging which will be x. If she's not then stick it back up for sale or offer it to the next highest bidder. Job done. How's about a nice cup of tea? I'm about as submissive as dracula on speed.... |
