however I would like to add my own contribution, to this debate, just for the sheer pleasure of joining in.

I believe, as NewC0985 has already stated, that a stable, in this context, is simply a collective noun for the slaves (and or submissives) belonging to a single person.

Although the name "stable" derives from the name of a building in which a collection of horses are housed, and indeed incarcerated, as far as I am aware the said slaves and submissives do not need to be incarerated, or indeed even resident, in such a building in order for the term "stable" to apply. They might well live in their own homes, which they might well own. They might well have lives they call their own, perhaps they even have partners and children. However, there would exist some express agreement between the "slave" and the "owner" of the "stable", that the slave would attend upon and serve the owner of the stable as and when the "owner" demanded. These demands might, to some extent, be negotiated between the slave and his or her "owner" to take account of the fact that the slave would need to manage his or her own life and career, as well as serving the stable owners whims, pleasure, needs and entertainment.

In what I have said above, I have implied that a stable would be the collective noun for the slaves and submissives "belonging" to one single dominant person. However, if two or three or more dominant men and women maintained a collection of slaves and submissives, which they treated as their own communal property, to the degree that pragmatic considerations allow, if they used that group of slaves and submissives jointly and severally, as their communal property, then that group of slaves and submissives could also, I believe, be referred to as a stable.

In the last instance therefore, the "stable" would refer to the slaves and submissives "belonging" to the group of dominants (a group of dominants banded together and incorporated into a single unit, a body, a society, call it what you will - for the sole purpose of using and controlling a group of slaves and submissives over which they all wish to exercise their "rights of ownership")

I am not aware of too many collective nouns referring to a group of a particular class of persons, such as the stable of submissives we have already discussed. However, there are a huge number of collective nouns which can be applied to the animal Kingdom, so I would like to throw open a challenge. Can anyone come up with a complete list of collective nouns that can be applied to people? I can think of a few. A convocation of students, a parliament of elected representatives, a den of thieves. However, I do not have access to a list of collective nouns for people, which is in any way comparable to the list of collective nouns I came across the other day, applying solely to animals.

I went in search of a list of collective nouns for animals after hearing Sting sing about "A Murder of Crows", on his song: (If you love someone) Set Them Free.

I found such a list simply by bringing up Google and typing "Murder of Crows" into the search box. I got a whole bundle of definitions. I immediately went ahead and stole the entire list for display on my own website. I did this so that I could appear erudite and knowledgeable, whereas, in reality, I am simply a thief of the fruits of other people's labour and hard work.

Anyway, if any of you are interested, you can find the entire list of these collective nouns just beyond the end of the paragraph after this one. I know that many of you are not interested. I know that many of you are already looking for the exit (hint - you close this window and you walk away from your PC). I know that many people who started reading this, my post, have already stopped reading, many of them indeed may have committed suicide along the way unable to cope with the fact that there exists another human being (me) who is so found of the sound of their own voice (or rather the sight of their own prose) as to be able to simply go on and on like this, with no conscience, no shame no feelings of embarrassment or restraint ... but there it is. Such an insensitive person exists, I live and breath, the only way to shut me up would be to incarcerate me in the stable of some beautiful and magnificent dominant Goddess who might chose to deprive me of either pen and ink (and paper) or computer and keyboard ...

Now I note that there seemed to be a somewhat perjorative air in some of the discussions concerning those persons who might want to own a stable of slaves. People seemed to be suggesting that those dominants who wished to own a stable of slaves were in some sence greedy, as if that were a bad thing in a dominant partner!

For myself, I think I would rather like to give myself to a Mistress (not for life, but for an afternoon say) a Mistress who was powerful and charismatic enough to able to claim that she owned a large stable of slaves. The bigger that stable the better, since the bigger the stable, the more powerful and charismatic the Mistress would have to be.

I would also rather like to surrender myself, for a few hours, to a Mistress who was greedy for pleasure. The greedier she might be, the longer I might expect to enjoy the privilege of attempting to satisfy her greed! However, I will not go into a full discussion about how it would feel for me to meet such a Mistress. If I did, I might ramble of for pages and pages. I wouldn't want to do that now, would I?

I must say, I'm rather pleased with what I have written so far. I think I might have to go and put my definition of "Stable" on Wikipedia. What do you think ladies and gentlemen? I'm sure the good folk at Wikipedia would be incredibly pleased.
