Anyone care to send a copy of "hostel" to their MP. I guess if this law is passed then owning a copy of that film alone would get you sent down. Yet it is perfectly legal to own an 18 certificate film which "hostel" is and is freely available in any high street music and video shop.

Shakes head and wonders what this country is coming to, would the last level headed person to emigrate please turn off the lights??

Its my opinion and I'm using it!

i agree with all the views on here and my biggest concern is that we seem to now be being placed under a "totallitarian Nanny state" where upon we are no longer capable of looking after our own well being! maybe we should learn from history because during the 2nd world war if w go back and look at what britain cited as being unaceptable control measures that Nazi germany was implementing seem very diluted compared with the goverments ID cards scheme coupled with this new bill. appart from the obvious fact that this bill doesn't deal with the real issues i have two major concerns

1. will this law cover the whole of britain or are we Scots exempt from it?

2. I find it most sinister thast its being tagged onto the immigration bill from the point of view that who in parliment will appose that bill ?

anyway I think a new career in amore tolerant society is in order me thinks who coming with me to deutschland?

cheers Stormy

Note that Hostel would be legal to own, simply because it's been passed by the BBFC. But screenshots of the movie, if made for the purpose of sexual arousal, could be illegal (and similarly, a recreated equivalent scene could be illegal, since the recreated scene wouldn't be approved by the BBFC). It's all rather mad.

Now here's a thought.... I was watching Madonna last night on Live Earth (Sue me, I work nightshifts, we watch anything we canto take our minds off the job! :p)...and my mind wandered back to the late Eighties...

Now I guess she has a copy of her own book, hell, I'm guessing she will have the original prints, she's no prude and very proud of her "fetish" past and request to be spanked, albeit in a pop-friendly kinda way...

I remember a certain scene in said book, with the lovely Madge held spreadeagled while a shaven-headed "dyke" held a knife to her pussy....

Madonna lives in England...

...so, if this bill gets passed, first person i'll be looking to get questioned is one of the highest profile celebrities in the UK....let's see how the Government want to try and prosecute that little bag of worms...

I am surprised and frightened by the resigned tone of the replies!

If we don't stand up to this type of frightening law now, we will all become arguably sex offenders and criminals. Yes, even those of us who don't view "extreme" images.

Look at the clues:

* That it is justified in order for "breaking the demand and supply cycle of this material, which may be harmful to those who view it"

* The images must be for sexual gratification purposes to fall under this law

* "banning their possession can be justified as sending a signal that such behaviour is not considered acceptable".

These points plus the suddenly expanded definitions of "extreme", and the inclusion on the Sex Offenders registry tell me that the bill is intended (at least by those who've most recently redrafted it) to promote societal disapproval of pretty much all SM activity, starting with the most extreme and of those who take photographs.

That persecution may move from just photos to anyone practising the activity is implicit in the third point.

That this is a morality/thoughtcrime bill is obvious from the fact that it excludes non-sexual threats.

That it's a ridiculous nanny-state provision is clear from the "may be harmful to those who view it".

I am astonished that this entire community isn't demonstrating loudly and daily. In the words of Benjamin Franklin, "If we don't all hang together, we will surely all hang separately".

google are already covering their arses. Over the last year I contributed several articles on Dominance/submission to Suite 101, an on-line journalist's site, but last week they were all deleted by the site editors who said Google will no longer post advertisement links to articles with a sexual theme. Mine were very mild, nothing offensive or extrmeme, just research and historical resons why there is no harm in cross-dressing, male submission, bondage, cp etc. Similar articles by other authors under the heading of "Gender Inequality, Women's issues," were not deleted, so we are looking at Political Correctness rather than actual content.

silver says that as the law now stands, the police can prosecute for GBH to protect a third party even without a complaint.

What ever happend "SSC" I thought we policed ourselves very well???. Trust - giving over control to others has worked well for years. (ok the latest episode of the young man kept in shed for months by a couple is taking advantage of a male with mental problems - but hey flimsy garden shed kick your way out of it if you aint happy. he did chores was fed scraps and was beaten - so yes this guy did need some protection However and i quote The police have no idea what were the couples intentions were DOH he wanted it FFS) How are the police going to enforce this crap if they dont understand the world of BDSM - its a nobrainer and how will the judges give us our sentances honestly and fairly - before meeting thier Domme mistresses.???? before going home to their respective wives.

Orwellion life is on its way here. (if its not here already). Most if not all here dont do scat. kids, anmials but if liking my ass spanked caned etc puts me on a sex offenders register - its wrong cos its my decision to let it happen. When is the march? I will be there.

The option for many producers are now either leave the country or water down the content so it will fail to appeal to anyone. I know several producers who are leaving the country as a result but its important that we fight the censorship right now! As the spanner case proved consent doesnt matter if the government has their way.
