OK, thanks for explaining. And same here.
It has just been my observation that far too many threads about anything pro in this world end up in a pointless bunch of rants, initaiated by blokes about the P word. Which gets no-body anywhere. So let's stop this one, deal?
Now what was the question again?
why poison your liver when I could eat it for you?

Unless I have missed something, this was raised by a male.......yet again ( yawn)not as you suppose a female. Read the words on his profile, he calls himself "FetishPhotoMan" the clue might be in the wording. Just going by a picture, half the IC members would be fairys, dragons or trolls.

Without belittling the injustices you refer to, some but not all those in prostitution face these things.
Jahc99 wrote: Rather, the question is why do some blokes insist on continually banging on about it, if you'll pardon the choice of words. It is almost always a bloke, usually a frustrated dom, that starts hurling the P word about in just about any thread relating to professional domination. That is why the matter arises, because some blokes seem to have an issue with it. And that is what we find gets so damned tedious.

It is tedious. Frankly I couldn't give two monkey's testes what someone calls themselves or doesn't. A rose by any other name etc etc
It does reveal something about someone's personality what sets them off though. That's all I was commenting on, none of the pro-dommes I have known would get their pants in a twizzle about such a thing.
(incidentally in this case at least the issue was raised by a female, the terminology was not the subject of this post)

Funny... the word tribute annoys you, the word prostitute annoys me.

I find the word tribute a bit teeth achey too but its hard to think of a different word whch serves the same purpose. "We all have our twists. And what's a man without his twists? Nothing you would recognise." Charles Morgan, Sparkenbroke

I have no problem with it at all, it is just part of the language, jargon, even, which any specialist area develops. On reflection, I rather like it, certainly in preference to just 'payment required', or 'fee' which are rather cold for such hot blooded things. And as others have said, it doesn't always take direct monetary form.
If your plumber does a good job, you might make them a cuppa and say thanks. If your Goddess does a good job, you kiss Her feet. Both may have hoovered yer wallet, but different ways of expressing things suit different situations.
It is also worth remembering that we are talking of the world of fantasy fulfillment, and the realm of the (usually) female dominant. The term tribute, to me anyway, implies respect for and appreciation of the Lady's skills, style and abilities as a dominant. For one who is paid to receive worship, that the financial aspect also be called a Tribute seems entirely appropriate. So you are welcome to your opinion, but I for one do not share it.
I don't think there is anything dishonest implied by the use of the term either. Everyone knows what it means, or will find out with a simple question. So splitting hairs over the minutia of the terminology seems rather curious, to be honest.

I've got the clap then?
Was thinking about the plumber analogy a bit more. Because if you smile everytime you sit down the week after seeing your plumber, you're probably doing something wrong. why poison your liver when I could eat it for you?
