So who's going? I know there are a few of us from the south heading over, but no one from here or the BDSM circuit.
It'll be our first one, so any advice is well appreciated. Our plan is to go out early and buy a camper van to use for transport, shade and an under slept in bed!

wow always wanted to go but am not organised enough to do it. lol I talked to an American woman at my gym who goes most years. She told me it is a good old drive accross the desert to get there from the nearest airport. She said it's very difficult to hire a camper van so buying might be a good idea. She said the worst thing is the dust and sand that gets everywhere. That's why the camper van hire people have very high deposits! She said although there are shops on site that it's best to take everything - it gets cold at night so blankets. Second hand info I know and stuff you have already probably thought of but hey. have fun ==========================================

Always wanted to, but I figure I'd have to DO something, which in turn would mean going over for about 3 months to build it.... An amazing, one of a kind, event.

Nahhh too pricey hows about a bunch of ICers going down to brighton nudist beach and getting our kit off there. That way we can shiver in the rain, no risk of sunburn, plus get to eat greasy fish and chips and plates of cockles. Come this way for your kiss me quick hats. http://linda50.proboards85.com/index.cgi#general

Have always fancied this - sounds spectacular! "Be careful Anais, abnormal pleasures kill the taste for normal ones."

I've been to Burning Man before, and I think the best thing to do is find a camp to assist when you get there (there are several kinky camps- Camp Arachnid comes to mind, they're mostly rope bondage)- often working with a theme camp can get you tickets free/reduced to the event itself, thus making it more affordable. Then, too, you don't need as much in terms of camping stuff- generally a camp sets a fee and some work time, and you get fed, sometimes housed, and a bunch of folks to hang out with automatically. That's what I did, and granted, currently I'm not far, but it made the experience way more affordable and fun. Plus, oftentimes you can get a rideshare from the airport, esp if you're not bringing much in the way of stuff.
I'd say if you're interested, check out tribe.net, which is where most of the Burners I know hang out. |
