Last night we had an Anglican Reverend visit our Synagogue and teach us about Easter. We taught some of his flock about Passover. I was delighted to learn that Jesus had celebrated Passover and that meal was the one depicted in famous painting “The Last Supper” The Reverend highlighted themes in the Easter celebrations which included a deliverance from bondage. However, it did not seem be the main part of the Easter festival so whether or not this post has any relevance to Christians is left to the reader's discretion. But this discussion served to bring up a question, as a sub believer should I play during the holidays?
Passover is celebrated by a Seder night which is a special meal with family and friends. Some BDSM enthusiasts have gone so far to actually write a BDSM Seder (http://www.iron- rose.com/marketplace/images/Seder.abrv.pdf). Others state that for the duration of the Passover you should set free your slaves/subs and re-collar them after the festival. This belief was spawned by a quote in the bible that goes something like “For you were a slave in Egypt and the Lord G-d set you free to serve him” As we entered our Doms/Dommes service of our own accord, so we should re-affirm our commitment to him/her as a denouement to the Passover celebrations.
I realize now that I have never played during the
Passover season. Perhaps these ideas of freedom from
slavery subconsciously prevented me from participating
in any BDSM activities during this period. For the
first time during this holiday, I find myself in a
committed BDSM relationship with a Dom I love very
much. I may ask him not to use bondage on me during
this period, or, I may ask the lovely ShadowRose if I
can use her cross on him instead … after all it is the
season
