Collaring - whats involved? (30)

This post is on the SM/Bondage/Fetish web board.

I've been reading on the boards about collaring etc, I understand the concept of consideration collars and permanent collars etc. But what about a collaring ceremony? What's involved? Are they similar to a wedding ceremony in that they follow a scripted fashion, if so, what types are there? Or are they free to flow however you choose, but need to have certain elements included.

Your views would be greatly appreciated.

At least two people and a collar ;-) apart from that there's no rule. Some people sign a contract or some kind of list (e.g. with rules), some like to have a ceremony with their friends, some prefer a more private setting... :-)

Must say that I share your curiosity. I once say The Story of 0 and became rather aroused at the thought of being cuffed and then suspended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just wonder what it's like.

One may read some form of vows or make a statement - Its entirely up to those involved. There are no set rituals to be followed, entirely at your own discretion at what it should be.

Hmm, interesting, thanks for your comments. I was thinking that it was all a bit secretive :) I did read a few bits on a Gor website, but that left me kinda cold. So its interesting to read peoples perspectives.

dear all

I wear my own Stainless Steel collar 24/7 though does support my neck and saves wearing a surgical collar when I needs to, and I can drive with the stainless steel collar.

Many use these ceremonies as a marriage of two peoples coming together and many can be very nice, but its not legal and binding.

all should remember " it has to work for both" and each should work towards such events.

My girl "dove" has been looking into this for some time and like many others before her was bemused that no structured form of service is to be found.

Though the signing of "slave contract" tends to be a private and very personal affair between the two parties,(if you are fortunate enough to be allowed to read one they are often deeply moving) anyhow I digress the ceromony aspect even though no set protocol or form exists however I feel should be a "public" affair. That is to say an open declclaration of ownership and intent before ones friends and peers. Then off to the registry office (if required) so the vanilla friends and family get to be involved as well.

Is this like a 'hand-fasting' ceremony in Wicca?

In some cases a collaring ceremony is a last attempt to make a failing relationship work, a bit like some marriages, but a lot easier to get out of.

Science, the only religion that works even if you don't believe in it.

The Artemisian collaring ceremony as is performed in Mistress's House is similar in someways to a handfasting. Symbolic lighting and quenching of candles, the submissive answers a short series of questions, her collar placed about her neck by her pride filled, loving Mistress and its clasp sealed shut so it may not be removed.

We hold Artemis in a position similar to a guardian angel so she is asked for aid in a simple prayer by both Mistress and slave. Then the Slaves presents the Mistress with a simple gift.

It's a short and simple ceremony, performed in front of house members and allies. It's also very beautiful and carries a lot of meaning.
