I think i'd only speak with Journos if they could show the lifestyle to be one big sex orgy - at least then my vanilla friends would stop thinking it was all a bit nerdy & sad.
That's the thing though - some of us seem to make-believe that we're part of some secret, underground society which spends its time doing delightfully decadent & dangerous acts which would frighten horses if ever the truth got out.
In actual fact - the vast majority of bdsm scene stuff is one step above train spotting and since munches most clubs & fetish markets are advertised in public then all it takes anybody (journalist or joe public) to enter them is to pay the money at the door and in some cases slap on a rubber t shirt.
Don't get me wrong - I love the scene (I love it far more since I stopped going to clubs however) but the vast majority of it is humdrum and I suspect most journalists would struggle to even find an interesting angle to base a story on.

lmao, very well said Vanguard, I have always found those that seek publicity for their fetish interests are usually the type of people who are not taken seriously in the scene anyway (with very few exceptions) so can never give a 'good' impression of the more positive aspects of the scene, as they have nothing else to commend them in the first place so it all ends up looking sad and creepy. Graham was one of the first people I met at the LAM, he is a lovely bloke and I consider him a friend, I am sometimes to be found next to him on his stall, are people going to give me suspicious looks also from now on thinking I work for the tabloids or something?

I just caught the end of this thread and am saddened by some of its tone.
To suggest that we as a community destroy the livelihood of an old established and respected BDSM trader because he has fallen foul of the communication black spots inherent in the way we now communicate is totally incredible.
I was once told to count to ten before I responded to anything that agrivated me. Those who know me will realise how successfully at this I can be, but with reference to this thread and also the one referred to by Master Thunder earlier on, WHY?

That's not quite true. You can opt out of the copy of the electoral register which your council is allowed to sell copies of in electronic format.
The full edition, though, is publically accessible - every council has to make a paper copy available to the public. My own local council does this by placing a paper copy in its public reference libraries.
