Not for the first time, someone likened my 'voice' to Chris Eubank. This amuses me greatly.
I recall some time ago when I first started blogging elsewhere. There were few blogs around then and the bloggers all knew each other pretty well. It seemed as if they all had not just a personality (their online persona) but an actual voice. I felt as if when I was reading their stuff I was listening to them speak. In my head any girl or guy who I knew had a voice.
Of course, I realise that this is all in my head and since meeting many of them or speaking on the phone I know what they sound like and it is nothing like the idea I had in my head. Most were American yet in my head they did not have their regional accents - in fact they often didn't have American accents at all.
I know that when we read this stuff, we do so in an informal manner. This is quite unlike a business letter. It is more like a conversation. In fact, the place I write most is a 'discussion board' so it is not surprise that readers attach a 'voice' to what I have written.
The big surprise is that I sound like Chris Eubank !
So here's a challenge........
Who do I sound like ? Whether or not you have actually heard me speak is irrelevant. Who do you think I sound like ?
I suppose that it doesn't need to be an individual. Do I have a deep or high pitched voice ? Do I sound commanding or understated ?
How I see myself is probably very different to how I am seen (or in this case heard).
Ever heard your own voice ?
Odd isn't it ?

Mel Don't worry, it's just the equipment making you sound like that (voicemail or whatever). You know what you sound like, you can hear your voice when you speak. Bod. ~O x |

Michael Cane. In my head you sound like Michael Cane Top blog, you are right, I've not really thought about it before but I too attribute voices to forum personas. So, are you going to say who those who reply sound like to you? |
