after reading around the debate on feminism, censorship and pornography, and realising that i have a (very) rare free weekend ... i have just bought tickets to attend the conference. i was wondering ... 1. is anyone from IC planning to meet up - if so, may i join you? 2. does anyone have ideas on where would be good to go on the friday and/or saturday night? 3. i am more than happy to offer a lift to anyone if it would be helpful. i will be travelling up on the friday evening, and returning on sunday evening. i live in west hertfordshire. thank you N x 'If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything ... and you would achieve nothing.' Yes, we should sort out a meet up spot. I was going to invite people over to ours beforehand, but I don't think we'll all fit! I do really need to get tickets sorted, as there are a limited number for the individual workshop and we need to grab them. Memoing everyone coming...

Oh, and I'll be going to a couple of other Ladyfest events on Friday and Saturday, and you're welcome to join me. We were originally supposed to have a Backlash/FAC type stall on Saturday, but mysteriously the stalls lady never contacted me...

In Leeds might I suggest Bibis http://www.bibisrestaurant.com/day/ I've had some great food and wine and the music can be quite fun too.
Also Chino Latino who do one of the best beef ceviches I have eaten, also one of the few places serving Petaluma Chardonnay at reasonable prices

Do you think we'll be insanely busy before the workshop gets going? I thought it would be great if all the ICers coming could get together beforehand in some bar type place to meet up and have a glass of wine. I personally would love to meet everyone coming. Yup, attempting to sort that out... We have to get there half an hour beforehand to set up, but if we meet at, say, half-threeish that's plenty of time. Thought we could all meet up somewhere between the train station and The Carriageworks venue. Just racking my brains as to which pub is obvious! And there will be booze afterwards, I think! Really looking forward to it now. Hello by the way! I envy your not-at-work status.

Yahaa!!! non work! have finished rewrite and emailed it to my supervisior...about to have Greek tutorial and explain why I haven't learnt much...hmm...pubs...tricky one. actually where we had lunch might be nice, but not in fact between trains and workshop. Bourbon? Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere; This bed thy centre is, these walls, thy sphere.

Hmmm, I don't know how easy Bourbon would be to find if you're coming from the train station. It's quite tucked away. There's Spoonies (yuck, and it'll be packed) or Browns (posh, expensive) or The Slug and Lettuce or Revolution? Or somewhere in the Carriageworks complex so we don't have far to go to set up and can't panic? Gah, I can't remember what Leeds looks like at all!

I have now bought workshop tickets for: snowgirl (concession - hope that's right! You just need your Uni of Leeds card) Thedavamp Beelzebunny Thomasson ... and a participant's pass for me! Waiting to hear from Jenis, Northern_Phoenix, caprycorn&lucky. If I've missed anyone out or you're hoping to attend, please let me know as soon as possible as I think it's likely to sell out. I'll probably be making another ticket mission tomorrow! Tickets are £2 (or £1.50 concession) and all profits from the festival go to charities supporting gender equality such as Rape Crisis and Women's Aid. And come to other Ladyfest events too!
