I think the OP needs to explain exactly what position? I agree with what TheMarquise says in explaining why there isn't a hierachy but if you beleive counter you need to define it a bit better. I think BDSM world is a bit of a goldfish bowl but no one inhabits all of it as it contains 100's of mini goldfish bols. There are no doubt well known people on here who I have never heard of and visa versa, and I do not consider well known as a sign of status. How can you have hierachy/status if most people dont know you from Adam? Probably similar to what TheMarquise said but tis my ha'pennies worth. Btw
I'm the top muppet in BDSM World, accept this an move on.

The only way to find out who's the domliest dommer in domland is to put all the dom/mes in a big arena and let em have it out with pillows full of manure. And I'd win.

Or in an online chat room and see who avoids getting sucked into the manure flinging that ensues.

I'm trying to get my head round the idea of an alpha switch. Hmmm. Maybe someone like me, who really doesn't give a flying one for hierarchies, and regards them as free liscence to mess about. Alpha dom types are generally small minded twits with a few even smaller minded sycophants in tow, and are therefore usually covered in foul smelling dribble whilst they wander around waving their willies in the air, to no great effect. The strutting peacock has, after all, been bred for its preposterous tail rather than a mind capable of handling a broader range of social interactions. Too obsessed with their place in some imaginary pecking order to realise that their 'free spirits' were domesticated generations ago and that they get fed just the same stuff as us chickens. Pok pok! Alpha subs, hmm. Guess that'd be trident, or maybe anything that can make it under the ice caps in one breath. Sorry, for a serious answer, see what the good Marquise said earlier. Me, I find the whole BDSM heirarchy thing impossible to take seriously. why poison your liver when I could eat it for you?

I sometimes get the impression that some think you have 'prove' yourself as being a real Dominant. I've sometimes been asked if I really am domiant, since I'm usually not very dominant in social settings, since I'm a bit quiet and seem very nice and cuddly. So I guess, some think that real Dominants *always* appear to be dominant, while those of us who prefer to keep the Dominant thing more private aren't always seen as true Dominants. Personally I don't really care, the only person who needs to care about whether I'm dominant or not is my sub (and those who have been my subs have never had any doubts).
