So all fine-strappy tops and dresses etc just don't enter my radar. :-(

Bravisimo do stappy tops and shoe string tops with built in bras, not just built in cups but proper fastening bras.

edited to add link http://www.bravissimo.com/bravissimo/

Wow! I was all prepared to do that grumpy "Yeah, not in my size though" thing - but they do. And there's a nice halterneck that might be winging my way soon :-)

Thanks for the hint!

Oh, and I'm reliably informed that the support should come from the sides. In a proper-fitting bra, if the straps slip off, it shouldn't make a blind bit of difference - it's the built-up sides that are doing all the heavy lifting!

Hmm, mine never do. I have grooves in my shoulders from wearing bras for so many years. Mine is an H cup and very very heavy. Without the shoulderstraps it would hurt!

Mind you, with them it hurts too, price you pay for being so blessed sigh.

Well, I'm not a million letters away from an H cup myself *cough* and I can say that my bras don't hurt - well, actually, sometimes by the end of the day they can feel a bit tight around the chest band, but I obviously expand as the day goes on =-o! But the straps never hurt, or wear grooves :-)

Can I ask - have you been measured and fitted in the last 6 months? This is the trouble with buying online / different brands - you get to know which size you are, so you order loads of those, and then actually you vary from bra to bra or you change size without realising. And then the straps have to do the work, not the chest band.

Sorry, I get a bit evangelical on this, because I spent a *long* time in ill-fitting bras, and the difference it makes to get ones that fit is amazing. Both in comfort and appearance. Even if you do end up being a totally different size to what you think you are - I ended up a much smaller band and a much bigger cup - I was wearing 38Ds. I'm really a 34G. In a 38 - well, too loose, so no wonder I was getting no support.

[/climbs off soapbox. No-one tells the difference though]

My daughter used to work in a lingerie shop, and she used to do fittings for bras. She said that the vast majority of women she saw were wearing the wrong size bra without knowing it.

Troo dat.

I'd been wearing a 40 D/DD for years - a trip to Rigby and Peller and I come out a 38G.

Stand aside plebians! I am on imperial business.

or a nice little black and pink number (that got a compliment in the ladies' last night at the LAM after-party) - Freya's worth a look.

Got one from Bravissimo.com and I still cherish the look on a certain chap's face (not Himself, I may add!) when I slipped off my shrug to reveal my bra. :-D They don't do it in black and pink any more, except in department stores, which is a shame. Here it is in Fushia!http://www.bravissimo.com/bravissimo/ProductList...

Don't know how these will fit, but may be worth trying. http://www.bravissimo.com/bravissimo/ProductList...

I buy all my bras from Bravissimo by post. Excellent service, highly recommned them. Refunds for stuff you don't like are no problem at all.

Yup, got the fuschia one too! Although you can get the black and pink one on Figleaves.com - that's where I got mine from (style is Arabella).

The buggers keep reissuing their styles in different colours - and new styles of matching knickers - and I just have to collect them all :-) Well, a girl's gotta have a hobby, no? ;-) I'm currently hankering after Eva in Slate (and possibly Powderpuff) to go with the black set I love...

And I've just been to look the names up - and I've got a feeling I'm about to whip out my credit card... :-D

More Sellotape? ;-)

No serious suggestions other than the rather wonderful Bravissimo (who stock Freya). Except that they've become a bit uppity of late and decent 'ordinary' bras are a bit of a rarity there these days :-(

I'd say that is caused by 2 things: 1) The daft "Measure under and add 4 or 5, then measure nipple line and subtract, then chose" According to that formula, I'm a 46AA... I wandered around in 44B for ages, because "they fitted"

2) Every single bloody bra is different!

Yeah right. Very comfy in my 40Es from Bravissimo! They all fit me.

Lession: Go get fitted by someone that looks at your body, not that uses a tape measure...

And get rechecked every once in a while, as we all change shape from time to time. ;-)
