I am immensely glad that we are not choosing to boycott Ladyfest after the fuss that our proposed workshop has caused. It would have made me furious and deeply sad that if some people shout loud enough they may silence whatever they choose.
I am at once excited and terrified of this workshop! It will be challenging and intimidating to face such virulent opposition in the knowledge that they are apparently opposed to moderating their views or indeed accepting or understanding any of ours.
I believe that forbidding women to explore their sexualities and to enjoy what they will even in their own homes is against the freedom feminism has fought for and although my in-depth knowledge of feminist movements is shaky, I rather think that censorship, alienation and rejection is hardly a worthy priority.
My part in the workshop will be to focus on the individual and pornography. How it has affected my life and informed my sexual decisions. I aim to demonstrate through my own experience that women are perfectly capable of making their own, well informed choices regarding their sexual lives and should certainly be allowed to do so. Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere; This bed thy centre is, these walls, thy sphere.

More action on the charliegrrl blog! She's posted, replying to us, but with no small amount of wordtwisting, nor any making visible of our replies.... just for extra journalistic accuracy (pah). So but of course I re-replied, and but of course she won't show it, and but of course I stuck it in my IC blog so you can all see, since she doesn't want anybody to. http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/weblogs/Thomass... The ironies in this case are that the 'feminist' concerned has a) fallen, albeit contortedly, into the ancient trap of pathologising female sexuality; and b) failed to grasp both the concept of fantasy, and the capability of self-aware and self-determined women to indulge in it without losing sight of sense. Literal-mindedness and a lack of imagination is her problem, it seems. Consider all my faculties at your service against the brownshirts. Edited 8 Apr 07, 1:22 AM by Q_aoar

Matriarchies have always been harder on opposition than patriarchies, watch out for anyone who thinks they are right. Good luck with the discussion. Hugs, Irene.
