Woodland view (6)

I went for my usual constitutional on Friday morning before work, an hours brisk trot round the beautiful woodland at the back of my house. When you get to the top of the hill there is a beautiful view, with a couple of benches for people to sit and absorb the greenery.

When I was trotting up there on Friday with IPOD on full blast I noticed a lady I had been looking after at work sat on the bench smiling out at the wood. I knew she went walking in this wood too, we had talked about it quite a lot in a motivational 'things to do when you are better'type chat. She went to the rehabilitation unit last week and I was delighted she had made so much progress to be out so soon; but I just said 'hello' and waved and she waved back.

I told my colleagues this morning at work that I had seen her and said I was surprised she had been discharged so quickly. They were even more surprised that I had seen her, especially as she had died on Thursday morning.

Im never surprised by such things. She no doubt wanted to pop back to a place where she enjoyed being and to have a brief exchange with someone she had shared interesting conversation with.
