When I chose to use the name 'scott_s' I thought it was a good choice. Okay, it's not a traditional bdsm name like Sir Scott S or subbie_s or Switch_scott, but it has alliteration and a sexy 's' sound -- so that would be good enough, right? After being on IC for a while, I realized that I was going to have to pick up my game -- the name game. In fact, even going with slave_s or MasterScotts just wasn't going to do it anymore. I was going to need something special -- some intangible, elusive characteristic that would launch me into the cool 007 of 21st century IC. In short, I needed an X Factor -- perhaps even an X Factor X. These days, people like xsinglesnowdropx, x1351x and xMistressDonnax lead the charge. xscott_sx, perhaps? Or, should I spread things out a bit like x_pixie_x, x_Thunder_x, and x_flaire_x? Maybe go big as X_kayel_X does with capitalization? X_scott_s_X, perchance? If the 'x' on the sides were good, then doubling up would be twice as good -- see people like: xxelexx or xxKaitlynxx. How would xxscott_sxx feel? Or perhaps a more subtle 'factor' would be preferable. Ali_Kat_xx, angeldustx, Ayla_XXX, starry_x, WhisperXX, and steffaniex know the benefits of the asymmetrical Factor X. Would they share these benefits with scott_s_xx? So, how has sweeping nature of bdsm's X Factor on IC affected you? And, do you think I'm going to be able to harness its elusive nature? regards, xXscott_sx_x_X xx

whats in a name? you could have the coolest name on IC but if you were a big plonker nobody would have a play scene with you... surely getting known and building a circle of friends is the path to lots of kinky fun

I don't think what you choose as your name matters a damn (with a few exceptions). What you are, say and do say far more about you. In any event, is it on IC that you want to known, or in real life? If you walk into a pub, do you want to answer to Scott? or x_scott_x? Donnachaidh There are 10 types of people. Those who do understand binary, and those who don't.

*grin* Me too! I feel tingly all over! Anyway, my excuse is that this system won't let me just use 1351 - my usual choice of handle. x-rated, Kat
