every few weeks i get an email from some nut, often under the banner of 'feminist', complaining that my photography is demeaning to women (the art nudes) and promotes violent abuse of women (the bondage).
both points are utter bollocks in my opinion.
any feminists in the house in a position to give me some strong comebacks or other quick-witted responses to these emails for the days when i feel like picking a fight as opposed to just ignoring them?
(edited cos i can't type for toffee)

Well, I don't know if it's a strong come-back, or quick witted for that matter... but to me feminism is about women having the right to choose to do whatever they want to do, and to be whatever they want to be, rather than having no choice other than to adhere to (patriarchal) society's predetermined roles. Therefore, as long as the ladies involved in your shoots are willing (and I assume they are After all, if I as a woman can only do what feminists say I can do - how has feminism won me any more freedom than before? Then I'm just doing what women say I should rather than what men say I should - no better. I should only do what *I* say I should. Just because I'm submissive, doesn't make me any less of a feminist. Feminism should be about me being able to be who I am - whether that's to be submissive, dominant, or whatever. Just my thoughts, and how I make who I am and what I do match seamlessly with my feminist beliefs.

Tell them that they are missing the element of choice, and that a woman choosing to express her sexuality in such a way is about as empowering a statement as it's possible for her to make. She's not afraid of it; why should they deny her that? And what are they afraid in turn? And would they feel the same way if your name was Marcia?

Echoing littlenic really. When anti-porn feminists come up with bollocks like this, they are basically suggesting that women who enjoy porn, participate in it, or are turned on by submission are suffering from a form of false consciousness. The stance tells these women that their choices aren't valid, that they aren't capable of choosing for themselves. It tells women that, like children, someone else needs to 'protect' them from themselves. It's deeply patronising and deeply offensive.

Just ask them, if they object to it so strongly, what the hell they are doing on this forum in the first place, and looking of male Doms' profiles too. Hypocrits! "There is a big secret about sex: most people don't like it." | |

It's usually emails via my websites that bring such comments. Mark |
