Never say I can't find links between diverse subject matters. Here's an interesting thing or three.
“The nose and genitals have something in common: they both contain erectile tissue, which swells as it engorges with blood before and during sex. There can be no confusion about why the penis needs to become erect, but for the vagina and the nose, it seems to be a case of increasing sensation. A nose pumped up with blood is much more sensitive to smells. And smell is a very important part of sex - nearly everyone who loses their sense of smell also loses much of their libido”.
(Ref - http://www.guardian.co.uk/food/Story/0,,1986806,... )
Not that I spend my lunch hours searching out stories of sex or anything. I just happened upon it by accident while reading the Guardian online.
So naturally I then thought hmmmm. Does that mean if you stimulate someone's nose or sense of smell you could actually sexually arouse them. It seems so and in fact there are claims to be had that people can orgasm by stimulation of the nose alone. Oh yes. It's amazing what you can find out when you Google sex and nose.
And here's a tip for us submissives. You can control your orgasm, ie maintain your body in a preorgasm condition, by controlling your breathing. Slow your breathing down and the point you reach orgasm will be put off, speed your breathing up and you'll reach orgasm more quickly. I'd been aware of that but not really consciously so.
But the question remains, why on earth did we evolve to have erectile tissue in our noses? I think I might jump up in the middle of sex next time and rush to the bathroom to look at my nose and see if it's swollen. Or maybe not. I'm sure my mind will be on other things. I can't say I've noticed my sexual partners' noses swelling up. I suppose it's the vessels inside rather than the nose itself… It would be somewhat alarming… or maybe offer other potentials activities, if noticeable nose swelling during sex was the case. An interesting thought. Brings a whole new meaning to Pinocchio.
And another interesting fact I discovered in my Google browsing today…. frequent sex boosts your immune system. Yes, well so long as you practice safe sex and don't contract HIV I suppose. However that aside sex is a good cold deterrent apparently, ideally you need to have sex once or twice a week… Obviously more is better… and your immune system will be boosted.
Funnily enough by amazing coincidence I think I've had less sex and more colds this year. Cuh! I knew there was a reason I needed more sex. And the other thing, if you lose your libido when you lose your sense of smell you'd think you'd get put off sex when you're all blocked up with a cold wouldn't you? I don't. I can honestly say no matter how ill I am, I always want sex.
Anyway it's a proven fact sex is good for you. So there.
