I've known Lady^Red for a number of years (in fact her phone number is still listed on my mobile under her previous nick).
A few days ago I posted to my weblog about " a sub I've known for years" and subby meeting her, getting on well and amongst other things discussing the back stabbing by some in the community.
In a conversation I had with Red yesterday she pointed out that she is a switch not a sub and that she had no objection to me naming her in my weblogs so I altered it.
Within an hour I had received a long "hate mail" memo from someone who had read my weblog about Red and who "warned me" about her.
As Red said to subby when they met , she and I have had our "ups and downs" over the years but have remained friends.
We both, I suppose, speak our minds . But openly, not behind peoples backs like others. As some who have read some of my flame war postings on uk.people.bdsm or ukbdsm know there are some I dislike intensely . Those who pretend to be who they are not, poseurs, wankers, self seekers , harmers. But I make no secret about it.
I'm reminded of an exchange of emails with another Dom a few days ago who stupidly (or deliberately ?) misinterpreted some emails I had sent on a certain topic a few weeks ago. His parting shot was "some people had warned me about you but I had ignored them"
Who ARE these people who have nothing better to do than spread rumours and lies about people they don't even know. Who accept gossip and fabrications or "a friend told me" as gospel and then elaborate on it and push it out along the chain.
I have in the past in "another life" had extensive dealings with the media and know that good reporters check sources, attributions and cross check their stories (the recent Hutton report illustrates what harm sloppy reporting does). No way would a reasonable newspaper publish something heard "from a friend of a friend of a friend". Yet some sad people who possibly have nothing better to do than sit nattering all day in chat rooms passing gossip backwards and forwards , stirring shit, appear to take delight in it.
