Subversion Re-visited (21)

It's a few months since I've been to SubV and happy circumstances found me back there again last night. To be honest, I'd found the changing venues off-putting and some of the places that they'd been forced to use weren't great; but a friend had indicated that things had changed so I thought it was worth my time to check it out again.

The new venue is Abacus in the City. It's a great venue with two large downstairs rooms that SubV currently use. The leather seating is comfortable and the smart stainless steel bar adds to the impression of a classy establishment.

The first room is the dungeon area with the usual SubV kit. The medical bench is discretly sectioned off to allow privacy (if you want it ;)) and the other equipment is adequately spaced out. There's a large dancefloor in the second room with set-back seating areas spaced all around it offering good views of the dancers while also affording a degree of privacy.

The music is loud, but not too loud in the dungeon area, and you rapidly get used to it anyway. Last night they played a really good selection of dance tracks but those who like their music to be gentle and atmospheric wouldn't find much to their liking.

It was busy last night but with a very good atmosphere. There were plenty of folks dressed up and some great costumes on view. The crowd is a wide selection of ages - I couldn't really say that one group was prevelant. The dungeon area does attract a large number of on-lookers (most of whom are chatting to each other rather than gawping at the play) but there's enough space for this.

SubV is a club that provides a mixture of attractions that won't be to everyone's taste, but all in all, I'd say that they've got it right and will be going from strength to strength as time goes on.

One thing - and it's an observation rather than a criticism - is that the clientelle appears to be dominated by LFS people and although there were people from IC there, they were in the minority. This didn't detract from the friendliness of the crowd, but perhaps you're missing out on a good thing?

It was great to see you there last night, it's been too long. I'm glad you took my advice and gave it another shot man, and that you enjoyed it. But then, we did spend most of the night with those gorgeous girls from Prague :-)

I think it's really difficult to run a fetish club that can cater for everybody (including the young uns) and has the right balance of play, dance, dressing up and socialising. In my opinion, Subversion has got it almost just right. It's as close to the perfect fetish club as you can get. It just seems to get better and better every time I go. I don't think I've ever seen it as busy as it was last night!

I'm dragging you to TG next in February ;-)

Hi mate. Good to see you as always. We had a good time at Subversion, it's not possible not to! My only criticism is that wretch 'screamer' always begging Master Chris to play with her!! Perhaps we'll see you at Isis soon? Chris and Jane xx

What's this about the clientelle (sp?) of Subversion being mainly LFS people? I counted about 190 people there at the peak attendance. I don't know if I can name 190 or even 100 people on LFS who post regularly. It's well known that most people on IC don't go to Fetish clubs, anyway. I think that most of the people who I see at Fetish clubs are unknown to me and and/or don't post on LFS or anywhere.

If they are unknown to you, how do you know if they post on "LFS or anywhere", and (following from "most people on IC don't go to Fetish clubs") are or are not on IC ?.

Cheers, Badg1.

OK, I'm going to make a list of all the people from LFS who I remember seeing at the last Subversion. This excludes people whose avatar doesn't show you what they look like and who haven't revealed their identity to me. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do about people who post on IC as well as on LFS. I don't normally list people who have attended any Fetish events, because that may be an invasion of privacy, but after I've made my list I'll count how many people are on it and tell you. I don't know the total attendance for Subversion throughout the night, but a newbie black man wearing a leather jacket and black PVC trousers turned up at 04:14 after most people had left, so this gives you some idea.

No need to make a list..... its a list of people known to you. So, such a list won't answer the point I've made - if they are unknown to you how do you know if they post, or are on IC?.

Answer: they are unknown to you, so you can't know if they post (here/LFS/anywhere) or are on IC, so your original comment is fallacious, unless you are now saying you knew everyone there, which is unlikely, given you "don't know the total attendance" ... "throughout the night".

You say there were about 190 people there (peak). You say that there aren't 190 regular posters to LFS. I'd agree (based on those 2 statements) that not all the (peak time) attendees post to LFS - (else logic dictates that there'd be closer to 190 regular posters to LFS).

Where I have trouble following your logic is where you have decided that those of the 190 who aren't know to you don't post elsewhere and/or aren't on IC.

How did you reach your conclusions of:

(emphasis added by Badg1 to 'anywhere')

For the people unknown to you: Might they not post elsewhere?.

Might they not post to IC but not have a photo showing?.

Either of these situations would invalidate at least one of your conclusions.

Cheers, Badg1.

This is getting more and more complicated, but at the end of the day, my comments on this are directed towards the original poster Littleboots, who said the clientele was mainly LFS people with a minority of IC people. I can't say I noticed anyone there who only posts on IC, so I don't know how they'd have noticed them either.

I've now made my list of people who post on the LFS forum who I remember being at the last Subversion. There are only 27 names on that list, including me. I didn't count the 2 organisers or anyone working for them who posts on LFS, because they'd have been there anyway, so that means I didn't count 3 people. I did count a photographer because he posts on LFS. Out of these 27 names, I know that at least 6 of them (including me) also post on IC. I don't know what percentage of people at Fetish clubs don't use the Internet at all. I know that there are some people who get pics taken for LFS which are labelled, but there are no corresponding user names on LFS, so they either don't read the LFS forum or they do read it but don't post on it.
