Have you ever had an experience that has left you screaming "Don't go near this Badger with a 10 foot bargepole?" but you can't just write a blog saying X did this, oh and this, is utterly clueless and needs to turn up at Dom school before someone gets hurt.
There is an absolute wealth of written material out there. SM 101 and Screw the Roses being amongst my personal favourites. IC is also an educational resource and a lot of the good folks from here will help if you simply ask the question. There are events and demos. SWAMP and BBB have demos. Kinclusive, Kinkfest and workshops all over the country.
There really is no excuse for ignorance.
I'm a submissive and even I take the time to learn about the different equipment and the techniques. After all, if I'm going to be on the receiving end of a 6ft bullwhip I want to know what SHOULD be happening.

And I've been on the receiving end of that. Here is roughly how to get yourself a submissive without having to bother with all that learning rubbish.
Firstly, it is imperative that you target "Newbies" I hate the term myself but I need to use something to contextualise this. The inexperienced. Check out their network on IC to make sure they are not too well connected. Steer clear of any who have strong connections to an experienced submissive. So now you have selected a few targets. (Any new submissive, female preferably, and between the ages of 20 and 45)What is the next step?
Memo them. Nice non threatening memo saying welcome, I see you are new, come out to munches and clubs (Only the ones that you attend obviously) and meet some nice friendly folks. If a suitable response is forthcoming, suggest meeting for a coffee sometime. After all why take the risk of letting them near a club or much until you have had first bite?
At this point you should also try to get some dialogue going via MSN or Yahoo. This is the really tricky bit though because you need to be able to talk the talk. All those years hanging out with fellow BDSMers comes in handy though. You have picked up the language. Indeed you can come accross as quite fluent to the inexperienced. "Ah yes, of course I subscribe to SSC" you can cheerfully trot out knowing that, of course, you have not bothered to learn the skills necessary to actually practice it. Breath play? Oh that's easy, just stop her breathing for a bit. What more do you really need to know?
So now you have a dialogue going with your "fresh meat" and you are impressing her mightily with your sound knowledge of the principles of D/s and the BDSM world that holds such rich, dark delights. But hang on. Sooner or later you are going to actually get your hands dirty. This on line stuff is easy, she's keen, you have fed her enough of a line now. It's time to deliver.
So you actually need some kit. Well you have a small collection that you have built up over the years, after all, she is not the first and you know she is unlikely to be the last. So you need some basic restraints, a bit of rope comes in handy, a flogger, because, well, it's quite easy really. Get her tied up and even you can hit a non moving target. Some canes too for exactly the same reason. A well presented botty should be a big enough target. This is all going rather well.
The fact that you could not find your way around a female human body with an instruction manual and a miner's lamp is no trouble either. You see it's all about YOUR pleasure, not hers. What? She actually want's some pleasure out of this? Damn! Right, in that case we obviously have to go down the slave route again. Chastity! Excellent idea, that should do the trick and shut the moaning bitch up. "Oh dear, did I say that last bit out loud?"
Now you really want to impress her with your connections. So you meet for that coffee, right before you go to the club, there is less chance of her bailing out by having second thoughts, she already has the idea that she is going in her head. It's off to the club you go. Of course she has to be on a collar and leash. It's the law! Yours obviously. You drag her round all the stalls talking to the vendors like your long lost brother which is bound to impress her. She is wide eyed and can't believe some of the stuff on offer. She could quite happily browse all that lovely kit but you drag her off anyway.
Now this is the point where it all gets rather tricky. You see, you have to deliver and in a club environment. Now you have two choices here. You either choose a dark corner and hope to goodness that nobody spots that you are making a right pig's ear of it and that can be a real problem with a decent DM around. Or, ah, of course, sheer genius! You develop one skill, that's all you need you see. One! and you wait until there are a few people around before tying up your target and getting stuck in. It doesn't really matter if she is enjoying it, just so long as she is not screaming for the Police you should be OK. So something flamboyant is called for. I know! Flogging. It's noisy but get it going and they fairly fly. Two are even better. You can show off your wonderful technique to the gathered throng, of course, no need to bother if your target is still in the land of the living. She is bound to be impressed. After all everyone is, you are a proper Dom now.
It's a plan, it's a good plan, after all it has worked well in the past. The only problem with the plan is that the damn submissives will keep talking. Why can't you keep them all gagged 24/7? They have a terrible habit of wanting to learn and communicate. Should keep them all caged too you know. Because once they start to learn, once they get their unfettered little hands on some decent reading material you are done for. And heaven help you if they find an experienced submissive to talk to. You really will be undone then.
Shame isn't it?
Your pattern of behaviour repeats over and over again. You just can't understand why they don't stay. Ungrateful bitches the lot of them. They should be on their knees in front of you. I mean, you are the most Dominant man they have ever met, you have mastered the flogger, what more can they possibly want?
