This evening i did something that will live with me for the rest of my life, i accidently trapped my eldest daughters fingers in the car door and locked it before we both realised what i had done!!
Similtaneously we both started screaming, her in agony and me in horror while i tried desperately to unlock the door and free her, she still screaming while im terrified her fingers are gonna drop to the floor the minute i open the door.
Much to our relief, her fingers were in tact, swollen, painful, broken skin but still attached, i grabbed hold of her holding her tight apolgising, i shoved her back in the car, apologising. Made a mad dash, shouting for other road users to 'fucking get outta me way'! (not that they heard me) still apologising, trying not to cry, trying to fend off the overwhelming need to throw up, trying to get the image out of my head.
She on the other hand is sat white faced and in tears, as i fling the car into a disabled bay outside casualty (so what)
We were in there 5 minutes, nurses were fantastic, nothing broken, just swollen and bruised and if your going to do that, you picked the best place to trap them!! at the tips and she would have lost the nails for sure! cue for me to do the wailing wallaby act and have flash backs!!!
Fingers strapped up, painkillers given and a 'can we still go to the gym mum?' ........ EH?
Amazes me how resiliant teenagers are, she will forget it within a week or 2 (obligatory teasing and tormenting aside) i never will, i will ever forget that look of agony as she screamed at me and my panic and fear as i realised what id done. Accidents do happen as tonight proves but as a mother its my nature to protect them not inflict pain on them and it hurt me far more.
Lesson learnt!!

I saw that happen in a car park to an old man.
Horrible it was and his wife, who had slammed the door on his fingers, shouted at him.
Poor buggar. "Don't try and test me, or you'll get a reaction".

Can sympathise with pain having trapped just one finger in the emergency exit door of a bus when I was 14. I had to have the nail removed.........4 injections to deaden it but could still feel the sensation of it being pulled out. 2 more injections of anti tetanus and antibiotic in my bum and another at the docs a while later. Gawd no wonder I hate getting them. Weeks of having a painful nail bed as the nail grew back. Perfectly straight and i still can't bend that finger all the way but not broken to my amazement.
Hope your daughter is ok and she lets you spoil her If you're not part of the solution you are the precipitate

I trapped my uncles fingers in the car door when we went to the cemetry to visit my grandads grave.
The scream cut through the silence quite well, I thought.
Oh and my uncle has 2 fingers missing from a previous accident so when we got his hand out , I just saw the 2 stumps and I started screaming.
what a laugh we had.
Ho ho ho. I'm gonna get drunk come round and fuck you up.
All people are shit bad trip tattoed on my brain.
Everything is beautiful, in its own way.
I know where you live, and I know you're on your own.

My Dad did that to me by accident when I was 8.
It was the rear door of his Mk VII Jaguar & it closed completely!
Hurt like a bitch & I screamed the house down!
Hurt even more when they had to push the door even more closed in order to release the latch to be able to open it!!!
Put it down to an experience or an adventure!
She will be just fine - look how I turned out?
