Pain or What? (7)

I don't like pain. Ghastly, really unpleasant, difficult to cope with. So why do I crave it? Why when I feel stressed or horny do I want pain, the feel of the flogger on my back, the cut of the cane across my arse? Why do I love it more than I hate it, in truth. Why do I actually desire it as part of my sexual playtime?

Why do my erotic fantasies include submission to pain. Why do I want to be pushed, viciously used, to feel a cock slam into me making me scream just as the whip wraps its bite around my body. Why have my fantasies always included these thoughts of sex and pain, totally interwoven? Is it some weird genetic imprint? What is the genetic benefit of enjoying pain with sex? The evolutionary trait that has ensured we have sado-masochists amongst us?

I read a paper once about the evolutionary need that created and continued homosexuality. If you hold with Darwin's theory, then any aspect of a particular species only exists because there is some evolutionary need for it. At first glance there is no sensible evolutionary argument for homosexuality to exist as a successful genetic trait. However homosexuality is related to social cohesion apparently and so makes for a wider successful society (until the Victorians came along and screwed it up). Also female decedents of men with homosexual tendencies, in general produce more offspring so you see there can be a genetic advantage to carrying some homosexual tendency. See the things you learn on IC. It also exists in many species, it is not a uniquely human trait.

So, what is the evolutionary benefit of sado-masochism? Is it the alpha males of mammalian species enjoy violent aggressive sex, have a desire to take whatever woman where and whenever they want? To be rough, to have high sexual drives and to enjoy a degree of violence? I can see where that might have evolved as a trait and why indeed SM is linked in so many of us to dominance and submission, it's a four way erotic feast.

You can see the ideal “pack leader” could be a sadistic dominant. Aggressive, violent, ruthless, strict, expecting complete control, immediate obedience, decisive and protective of his pack. The ideal mate to this alpha male would be submissive masochist, able to accept pain, desiring leadership, enjoying violent sex....... etc etc you know the story.

So the next time your dominant turns up on your doorstep dragging a slaughtered deer behind him, growling at you and gesturing to the bedroom, you'll understand why your cunt gets runny…. It's just genetics that's all….

Still it has to be said, pain is a twat but its also utterly delicious too. And goes so well with a ruthless fucking.

so if its all genetic find the gene to stop or start it? what about social conditioning? we are surely influenced by our surrounding?

I can go with the darwinian theory up to a point but it cant be the whole picture?

Why not? Why does there have to be more?

As for identifying the gene, it's probably not a research priority but I do believe they have identified the gene for homosexuality and if you consider SM to be a form of sexuality rather than conditioning, as I would so argue, then in theory there must be a genetic marker for this trait too.

All paper thin theorising of course, but I totally agree with myself.....

Ho hum, I can't think of anything to add to that alexandra you've pretty much summed it up. There is a particular erotic undercurrent to enduring pain that you detest for someone you love that is hard to describe, but pretty much is encapsulated in this image for me, your head is bowed with your eyes screwed closed, maybe full of tears when that blow has finished, and inbetween increasingly slow breaths you lift your head up and up and up, hair in eyes, eyes initially lowered then looking up in small stages at their feet, their thighs, their chests, then their faces and you see something shining in their eyes. There is a big, thick, gooey atmosphere between you, where you have all walked into a forbidden field together to do despicably wonderful things, and that knowledge that you're undergoing it together, even though one of you is hurting and one of you is doing the hurting, and your eyes still locked with the silence uttering a billion words.

Thats where I and suspect you find that nirvana

yes i think i heard about the gene stuff but i still think that social conditiong must play a larger part then you would subscribe to.

so in your view this gene has been there all along? if so shoulnt we have historical records of instances of such behaviour. and i knw we do for homosexuality but what about sm type practices?

I'll subscribe to the genetic link too. I've been this deviant since well below the age I was sexually mature. My earliest memories are from around the age of 7. I come from a happy, stable, secure family. I can find no other reason for me to be a submissive masochist. So until I find another reason i'll stick with the alexandraa theory.

The more that pleasure turns into pain, the more inclined I am to stand and take it. Texas 2005
