Party (1)

I went to a party last night. Gravity was there - as usual.

"How're things mate?" I asked.

"Oh. You know. I'm feeling a bit down." said Gravity.

"Well, cheer up!" I said, looking around for someone else to talk to, "You never know when things will brighten up!"

Gravity just looked at me with a kind of sad, ageless dispair.

Just then the King of Rabbits came over.

"Want a rabbit?" he asked.

"No" I said.

"How about you, Gravity? Rabbit?"

"No."

"Go on, everybody loves a rabbit!"

"I'd only crush it..."

"Go onnnnnnnn! Have one! They're free!"

...

Some moments later the King of Rabbits and I are both a little wiser as to the literal meaning of "I'd only crush it".

"Cripes!" Said the King of Rabbits.

"Yes. That happens a lot", said Gravity.

I - ever the optimist - said "Well, at least now it'll fit in your bag!"

Gravity stared at me again in a way that made me feel a little awkward.

I offered Gravity and the King of Rabbits some tissues that I'd collected earlier while trying to develop a new hobby, but they were both busy making polite excuses in order to not have to talk to each other any more. Which is tricky when you are covered in rabbit blood and gobs of matted fur - I can tell you.

After another few minutes of trying to engage Gravity in some polite chit-chat I realised that my efforts weren't really getting anywhere.

I politely excused myself on the pretext of recognising somebody else come in who I just *had* to talk to and left Gravity to pick the remaining clumps of fur and bone off.

Other than that - the party was a bit of a bore really. I chatted to some girls who turned out to be go-go dancers. But as I wasn't sure what that entailed I was unable to really make the most of the conversation point.

Ah well, perhaps I will make more of an impression at the next party.

Toodle-oo!

Yeah, Gravity can be a bit of a drag, but you should meet his Anti, she's quite the opposite you know.
