Some time ago I bought a huge amount of reclaimed parquet blocks to redo our floors. Our bedroom was done a while ago and very nice it looks too.
We are currently doing the spare room, but the blocks really do take some preparing and there are 70 odd to the square metre.
Last night pix went off into the garage to do some and I did dinner, himself came home with some work so he was out of the picture. After dinner I joined pix in the garage and we scraped and listened to love songs......and I sang to her.
I can hear you from here with your AHHHHHHHH's. But then most of you havent heard me sing 
We did however scrape 1 1/2 metres worth of blocks. If anyone wants to help....I promise not to sing.

We've got woodblock floors in all of the downstairs rooms apart from the kitchen. Luckily ours was already done when we moved in. However they are well overdue some tlc in the way of sanding and re-varnishing. Yer hoping Sweetie and Disaray start doing duets aren't ya?
Can just see them as the new John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. Although I don't want to hear any tales about Disaray being sewn into his outfit. If it's not broken, fix it anyway, it'll be an adventure. | ||

Have you thought of laying them in the state they are in now, and claiming it is an ethical statement to oppose the uniformity of the modern cleaned look!!!! or some BS like that? [or then hiring a floor sander] | ||

The bits we are cleaning are the bits that fit together sideways. Because its reclaimed from a dept store its been down some time and dirt can be encrusted on the side bits. Plus if they were a bit over generous with the bitumin you have to just scrape the excess off. The tops will be planed slightly and then sanded and then varnished. Its a lot of work but lovely when done and will never need replacing. Unlike carpet. AND you can change the colour scheme by just buying new rugs.
