Finally, after well over a year of pondering and browsing online and in person, debating and deliberating, asking opinions of all my friends and family and then ignoring them, I have chosen a new bed frame. Mostly I was driven to decision making because my current beloved bed has become so squeaky and creaky it wakes me up when I turn over. As for the noise it makes when some bedroom action is going on, that's like several cars are being crushed during Jamaican tin drum jamboree. It's enough.

So I've tracked down a place that does bed frames with “firm-fit” joints (you can't go wrong with a firm fit I find), guaranteed not to squeak or creak for 5 years. We'll see. Who did they test it out with for 5 years is what I want to know. A elderly lady and her cat or a sexually manic submissive masochist? Maybe if I can knacker it out within five years I can get another new one for free. Any offers on helping me complete that mission?

The other bizarre bedroom thing that's going on of late (steady, put those trouser snakes away), is every night, well morning to be exact, I wake up at 4am. It's starting to creep me out now. I wake up and I know without looking at the clock that it's going to be fucking 4am. Sure as chocolate tastes delicious. All I can think is one of my neighbours either works late or starts early and comes in or goes out at 4am. Something wakes me at that time but then I hear no sounds at all. Sooooo it's probably someone going out. Maybe someone is shagging surreptitiously and their shag partner has to creep home at 4am. Although it is every night, surely no one is that lucky? It has to be shift work.

My new bed I think is rather elegant. I'm looking forward to its arrival. It has posts at each corner of course, well you need that don't you. How delightful it will be to turn over during the night and not hear eeek squeak groan creak. Although my current bed is rather lovely it seems a shame to discard it after so much loyal service. If anyone wants a very heavy solid pine bed with lots of very handy tie off points, but sadly needs the loving attention of a carpenter you're welcome to it.

It's a good piece of furniture but enough is enough for me and anyway it's really nice to buy something that's mine and not chosen with my ex husband. Although it was more along the lines of, we're having that one. I didn't ever allow him much choice now I come to think of it. Funny that. Strange how Ds can change your behaviour and outlook on life.

Buying something new that has the touch of your own personality can make that bit of furniture hold a lot of meaning to oneself, for the new memories to begin. :)

Or just eliminating the old memories by gutting that bedroom we shared and turning it into a new dungeon!

Yes,my life is going to be very different. The bed is still fine though and does not creak.
