Blogging for backlash (0)

This law as proposed is madness. It really is that simple.

It is not about 'extreme' pornographic images, if it were it would define them clearly, objectively, predictably so that one could know, with confidence whether one was breaking the law.

Nor is it about protecting the innocent. There are far better ways to do that. We all sympathize with the victims of awful crimes like rape, torture, sexual assault, but let's be clear, they are victims of crimes, of acts that are already illegal. More laws will not make these acts any more illegal.

No. These laws are about the moral majority (which in fact is probably more of a voiciferous minority), pursuing their own small minded, close minded, puritanical & illiberal political adgenda. And there is more than a hint of jealousy about it too - the small minded suspecting others are having far more fun than they are (which we are), and automatically believing it must be stopped.

These proposals are dangerous. uktrucker's post said it all. We should fight them with our last breath.
