Speaking out for those without a voice, for example, children (paedophillia) and foxes (hunting) is generally a 'good thing'. It can be the mark of a democracy.
Trying to over rule and criminalise people who know their own minds and are able to consent is the mark of a dictatorship or perhaps of a government who are trying to distract the population with 'top dressing' to disguise the fact they have no substance when it comes to the more important issues.
There's no provable correlation between viewing and then acting on violent images. If there were I'm sure seeing images at first hand (as opposed to over the internet) would have resulted in the banning of things like boxing.
Art, literature and films would surely ultimately have to be censored to remove all images of violence ~ physical, sexual, emotional and intellectual. This sort of censorship by government is something our armed forces are currently fighting against in many arenas of the world. How horribly ironic it would be if our own government while fighting against dictatorships and unreasonable treatment of individuals in other countries did the same to people of the UK.
