i am looking at a photograph of a beautiful woman.
she's not conventionally beautiful. oh no, in fact she's quite plain. she wouldn't catch your attention in the street.
and those dimples and blemishes! the wrong side of forty i'd say. well the wrong side.
she's naked apart from the rope. the rope is so tight, you can see it cutting into her mottled flesh.
she's helpless. she cannot move. her life is at the whim of whoever did this to her.
but she doesn't look helpless.
there is a calm serenity about her. she gazes unseeing into the camera, and her assailant behind the lens.
the lens has captured her. has captured her soul. has captured the strange beauty of the moment; a beauty unseen in everyday life.

and looking at the photograph again and again, i relive that moment when i was bound and helpless, and yet more powerful than i have ever been.
the new law will make a criminal out of me. simply for owning a photograph of myself.
