Sophistiated sex isn't something that suddenly pops out of the blue yonder, S&M has been here for centuries. In all it's many varieties.
We are all different.
Supporting a law that makes it clear that difference, and non conformity are criminal offences, isn't about the rights and wrongs of S&M or violent pornography, but the rights and wrongs of free expression in a democracy. Will the next Blairite law make it an offense to be gay, to have a mental health issue, to be eccentric, to be a genuis, to be different in any way from what the government wants you to be?
Just like the rabbits in Watership Down, who turned a blind eye to their fellow rabbits being slaughtered, on the basis that it could never happen to them even though they were next in line....Do we really want a government that tells us what to think (i.e. don't look at violent sexual images), how to act (don't be noncorformist in the way you have sex) and what to look at: Don't look at violent pornography because you might turn into a rapist - isn't that the same reason for wearing veils in some countries?
