I am a 35 year old woman. I discovered bdsm by accident and my world dropped into place quite easily. To think that the world I discovered ~ which has helped me understand and accept myself, my leanings, my cravings ~ is under threat for being deemed dangerous and corruptable, is just laughable and terrifying at the same time.

To outlaw the possession of images that are consenual and loving is just ridiculous. Innocent people could be segregated, condemed, destroyed by these new laws, myself amongst them, along with all of you. For why? Well, merely for having a relationship, or participating in acts that the greater public deem unsavoury.

Utter rubbish if we look at it logically, as others on their blogs for backlash have done.

I too have been raped as an adult, and in an abusive relationship. Neither of these were as a result of internet images, porn, or any other stimulae covered by the proposals. So what is to blame for the people in question for whom these soon to be banned images have no effect, nor did they act as a catalyst?? And what price are we having to pay for the facade of keeping the community safe? These laws will stop nothing, they merely shift blame and make everyone involved look busy.

This is not a long blog. I do not have much more to say on the subject than others have said. I am an adult. I am a mother. I am a worker. I have a family, friends, and am respected by those who know me. Why should I be subjected to judgement by those who do not know me, do not understand me, and care not either way?

I have earnt the right as an adult that knows right from wrong, to know that what is and is not right for me. Where do we draw the line? When do we stop being so paranoid and fearful of things we do not understand? When will we stop taring all with the same brush when the brush is quite obviously too big for the job?

Thankyou for listening.
