Most Europian men I have conversed with about the hijab do not have a problem about ladies choosing to wear it, as many do. The lady gains more respect clothed like this to show her modesty rather than strolling about town on a Friday or Saturday night semi clothed and full of lager

A friend of mine, noted for his eccentricity, turned up at my fancy dress Halloween party wearing a full burqha. He, being the eccentric he was, had decided to spend the day wandering about Durham in it to see what the reaction was. He said it was the closest he had ever felt to being invisable as people completely blanked his existance. No-one even realised it was a man under there rather than a woman.

The hijab is not a western fashion accesory to cast of when something more trendy catches on. Ladies often choose to wear it out of respect for their culture and modesty. Many western men support their choice and they should be free to wear it. They do not object to semi naked girls full of lager staggering through our cities at the weekends, even though this is offensive to their culture

In this country it is, or should be, whatever you want it to be - whether transient fashion accessory, kinky play costume or expression of culture & modesty.

I'll never regret this, ...although I may rue and lament it

as a woman and a feminist i find it extremely offensive - the women "consent" in my view because of their religion etc - but religion is about control (most often of women) and more akin to brainwashing than consent - i think we should all be free to wear what we want but as an informed and free choice

This is your western thoughts and is not how countrys whose ladies wear the burka view things. Many choose to wear it to show their culture and modesty. They are tolerant of your views but have little repect for the dress and drinking habits of western woman they see going from pub to pub at weekends too drunk to stand often
