I have one of these, the one thing i would watch out for is causing (unintended) pain / damage to the underside of the tongue as its much more sensitive than the top side (in my gob it is anyway lol). Because of the velcro I would question the hygeiene of using it on more than one person as its a bugger to clean.

We just use the hook side of the velcro not the fluffy side. It's a heavy duty velcro so the hooks are well spaced, almost ribbed, and not like the mass of tiny hooks like you get on dress-weight velcro. A toothbrush dipped in Milton will clean it up.

I agree about only using them on one person but even then it still needs to be cleaned cos of bacteria.

I got a nasty infection from the leather mouth pad of a gag once. My doctor gave me a right lecture for not cleaning the gag properly after every use.
