Do not presume that your opinion is fact and that you may present it to me as such. Do not present your subjective advice to me as veiled instruction, when in truth, it represents no more than your own point of view.

Do not trail me, like a self-appointed traffic warden, flapping a rulebook and citing parking restrictions. Your rulebook is your own. Those double yellow lines are of your individual design and you place them upon my territory, without permission.

Do not disparage what I say, think or do and interpret my tact or silence, as acquiescence or agreement.

Do not pay mealy-mouthed lip-service, to my right to express my thoughts, while making it apparent, that your respect for my choices, is not genuine.

Do not determine, that my experience or perceptions are not valid, because they don't match your own. Do not attack those, who similarly fail to meet your specific criterion.

Beware who you proscribe and lambast, for you may be proscribing me.

Do not presume to apply your personal definitions to this old fool. For when you make such presumptions, you do so without my consent.

*

On two separate occasions this week, I've been moved to memo strangers on IC, expressing support, connected to the general issues I raise here. This may have offered them the dubious pleasure of knowing that, 'The Lurkers Support Them In Email'.

For me, it has not felt quite enough.

"If I didn't define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people's fantasies for me and eaten alive."

I'm always bloody great Mr. Insistor. Except of course, for those occasions when I'm not.

To be expected from a Lady with impeccable comic timing and a face like a startled bloodhound ;)

Ah. Perhaps you just admire, a blithe spirit ;-)

Your post said exactly what I have felt on many occasions but never got round to putting into words. It would be some comfort if these people knew who they were but I very much doubt that most of them would recognise themselves. The just know that they are Right and everyone else must either agree or be relegated to the ignorant masses of those who dare to express another opinion

I feel if ever you and I were to meet we would be great friends. I can sense a kindred spirit (aside from the smoking which isn't a problem online! ;) )

Iona_O, thank you again. :-) As for the smoking, I never cyber-smoke. It's so...so...I don't know...unsatisfying ;-)

BearOtwo, I'm pleased you like it. Thank you :-)
