... was what Blair said just now when talking about the issues in the Labour Party about his own leadership.
But wasn't that exactly how he treated the public when there was massive opposition to our invasion of Iraq?

But that was different, his friend Mr Bush wanted him to send his toy army out there.
Now the nasty people he works with are telling him he should go away he wants the public to tell him he is still a great leader who saved the world. Da mihi castitatem et incorruptus, sed noli modo

But that is how he is treating the public by refusing to give a date. "We're all living in a freakshow Man, it's called life. Buy a ticket and enjoy the ride." Foamy The Squirrel

Why should he give a date? The Labour Party was elected to office for five years, with him as leader. When people filled in their ballot form, they didn't fill in another form saying 'We want Blair to go.' They simply elected Labour, with Blair as leader. So why should he regard a few people's demands as more important than the result of the last general election?

Judging by the comments he has made over the last couple of days, he seems to be in complete denial about the feelings of the general public.
I was astonished to see him interviewed the other night about his proposals which would include removing very young children who might, at some future date, in the opinion of the local social services department, exhibit criminal behaviour.
He spread his hands in astonishment when the interviewer expressed the view (very mildly) that some people might find this somewhat extreme. "But surely," he said, with a look of incredulity, "everybody can see that this is the only way to proceed."
I saw that he had the same mad look in his eyes that Thatcher used to have when she was in orbit.
