We live in a lovely place. The house is at the highest local point and we have fantastic views. When sitting in the lounge and looking through one window all you can see is sky. Today it was a lovely clear blue sky.
I watched two birds flying around. They were too far away to identify and I couldn't be bothered to go and retrieve the binoculars, so I just sat and watched them.
They looked like they were performing a carefully synchronised dance. Swooping and diving, I watched them for ages. Then suddenly one changed direction, very quickly the other followed and soon they where flying in perfect harmony again. After a minute or two the same thing would happen, but very quickly and with little adjustment, they would be together again.
I watched them for over half an hour before they left me, I felt privileged to see a little part of their world. Then I wondered......
What would have happened if the other bird hadn't made that quick adjustment when it saw it's mate move slightly off course? Very soon these birds would be so far apart, maybe they would lose sight of each other. Each knew exactly where the other was, they constantly looked out for each other, they obviously wanted to be together.
How many of us need to make slight adjustments for our dance to continue? How many of use are too busy looking at our own flight path to notice if there has been a slight parting of the ways? The slightest shift can quickly become huge chasms.
I've had to make my own adjustments, some big, some small.
I am happy to learn new steps and soar frightening heights, simply because the dance cannot be perfect alone

eloquent as usual mel. U are so right about adjustments.
I danced away from my partner only to find her 25yrs later - making the adjustments are harder as you get older ;0)but seem to be worth it.
Good luck xxxxxx |
