I've been asked (or had asked about me), all of these questions. For lol and instructional value, I am reproducing them here, along with my answers. Enjoy

"Why are you on IC?"

To be part of the wider BDSM community. To memo my mates and keep up with clubs and munches. To amuse myself by laughing at idiots. The normal stuff.

Well, I wouldn't sound very submissive, to *you*, would I? We've not even met!

"You have a boyfriend?"

Yes, and a husband. I'm polyamorous, or 'poly'.

"So, sorry...you're what now?"

Being poly means that I engage in multiple, loving relationships that are not monogamous.

"So what's this 'Polly' business all about then? Are you Polly? No? Who is she? Is she fit?"

No, no no. I have a husband, who I live with, a boyfriend who lives nearby, and others who I occasionally see. My husband doesn't have another partner, although he could if he wanted to. My boyfriend has another partner, who I'm very close to.

"So, you're some sort of swinger?"

No - swinging is different from polyamory because swingers tend to have their own community, clubs, and social etiquette. Swinging usually involves going out for the night to a club or party, having a go on someone other than your husband/ wife/ boyfriend/ girlfriend, with their permission, and/ or while they're there.

But afterwards you go home and curl up with your partner. You might be friends with the people you swing with and have sex with. You might have them over for dinner - but you wouldn't go on a date with them, or stay round their house without your partner.

"So do the four of you...you know?"

No. We're not a foursome, or a threesome. It works like this:

I am happily married to my husband, who I love.

I am devoted to @Furry_Wolf, my boyfriend, my dominant partner, my alpha male, who I play with, have sex with, love, and submit to.

@Furry_Wolf has two girlfriends. Me, and @Tequila_Mockingbird. He is Daddy Dom to her little girl, and they play, have sex, and love, together.

My relationship with @Tequila_Mockingbird is platonic. We are close friends, consider each other 'family' and like to hang out together.

My husband is good friends with @Furry_Wolf, and @Tequila_Mockingbird. He hangs out with them as individuals, and sometimes we all hang out together, for 'poly family' get togethers.

When three or four of us are together, we do what the average couple does when with friends. We don't all sleep together in one giant bed, or swap underwear (although that would be lol).

I can see why you might think that, but no. Although...

"So, you're submissive. What kind of stuff do you like?"

I get direct pleasure from pain. I've a hell of a pain threshold, and really like violence. I like the thrill of the fight and bad behaviour. And I like to have it taken beyond my threshold, to be made to suffer, to be in a situation I'm no longer directly enjoying, to try and escape and fail, to be used, to be abused, to be debased and degraded.

"What kind of things do you like doing, apart from getting smashed around the place and nymphoing about?"

The normal things...er, except not. I disdain lowbrow pursuits, yet while I read avidly, it's usually children's fantasy fiction. Or stuff about sex and vampires and werewolves. I like a bit of trash tv. I generally avoid the cinema, and nightclubs, but you can't beat a good play club (pun intended), and I've got my favourite ebm/ goth nightclubs which I'll dance at all evening, with pleasure. Tea? Does tea count as an activity?

I also paint, and have had my work shown in a very low key way. I model and do shoots about once a month. I write, although lack the inclination to update my blog, currently. Favourite activity of the moment is poi.

"What's poi? Is it some sort of tai chi thing?"

People are always asking me what I'm doing, if they see me poi. And asking whether it's a meditation, or a martial art, or exercise. When I say 'it's all of those things' it feels like a rubbish answer - but it's true. Poi is the art of object manipulation using two balls, each on the end of a string, chain or rope. It's derived from a Maori hunting skill practice, and generally done as a 'circus skill'. I do it as dance, and for performance. It can be done as fire poi, which is when you set fire to the balls on the end. It's pretty, and feels really good. I also have lots of other toys that i set fire to, and dance with. Terrifyingly good fun.

"Where's your model portfolio? Can I see your nuddy pictures? What's the difference between being a glamour model, and an erotic art model? Do you get paid for your shoots? Why do you do it?"

Contrary to popular opinion, the difference between glamour and erotic art isn't subtle at all. Yes, you take your clothes off and might spread your legs for both of them - but you only have to look at a photo to know which is which. It's like the difference between a meal, and junk food. There's food in both of them, but everyone knows the difference.

I don't (currently) do paid shoots, because there's never going to be enough money in it for me to make it worth my while. Instead, I get to set the agenda, do exactly what I want, and nothing that I don't want - because I'm not being paid. What's not to like? I get to indulge my exhibitionist side, creative side, and make something beautiful by working with another artist. Plus - I get fuss and strokes for pretty photos

What a fucking stupid question. How can it *not* be the ultimate expression of feminism, for me to do EXACTLY WHATEVER. THE FUCK. I. PLEASE, in and out of bed, irregardless of gender? If I was inhibiting myself, and the fulfilment of my own pleasure, just because I'm a woman - because I *ought* to, then that - THAT - would be betraying my personal and political beliefs.

"Don't you think it's wrong for a man to hit a woman, even if it's consensual? Don't you think it glorifies sexual violence and sends a message to both men and women that ultimately results in an increase in non-consensual rape and sexual violence?"

No.

I think that some people find consensual violence repugnant, and purely because of their own emotional reaction, look to justify their abhorrence with academic argument.
