| The Bill which criminalises the possession of so-called extreme images has now received Royal Assent.
The MOJ has informed us that the planning date for bringing provisions 64 to 67 of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 (dealing with possession of extreme porn) into force is January 2009.
That said, we are told this date is indicative only at this stage and is subject to confirmation nearer the time.
The MoJ said further guidance or advice will also be given closer to that time.
I have asked for an ETA on the guidance.
In the interim, backlash is decidng what role -- if any -- it can take in the ongoing fight against this law.

Backlash is particularly keen to talk to lawyers, police officers, computer forensics expert and others who would be willing to help advise on the likely interpretation of the law and how best people can defend themselves. |
