I have just rejoined after a long absence doing secret work for the government.

I will add more when I have more time, but my kingdom of evil takes a great deal of energy and there is not much time left over for this kind of frivolity.

I was wondering what this is all about. I mean why exactly do I want to whip my friend? She's lovelly!

Basically I am a decent enough guy. So isn't it extraordinary: that in some sense - inside myself and probably inside most of us - there is some of remnant of a caveman ( or woman's) gene, that carries with it the shadow of some violent psychotic bully. It is not appropriate for me to make this mode my daily regime , because that kind of behaviour is not appropriate for a man, for a human. It is not seemly, not fit. It is appropriate only for the animals to grab, growl and rip at each others flesh.

Inside others there may be some remnant of some caveman (or woman's)gene: that wants to give up the fight; stop trying and give in to the will of the strong. Abandoning social and personal pride to simplering weakly for favour. Of course that is not an attractive trait in a grown human either.

But there is one place where this all makes sense and where this way is the best way or a good way. Where we can let that suffocated, forgotten, (and rightly) down-trodden part of ourselves breathe again. It is in another very primitive place. The place of sex.

It is the one place where we can express our tenderest and most soulful aspirations, at the same time as our most visceral lowness. In our choice of partner we may be sophisticated and exhaulted. But what happens next is as much a part of the lowest animal experience as it is of the soul.

Maybe that is why we commonly exercise SO much care over who we choose. Its a rum business don't you think?
