He's my rollercoaster but I can't get off the ride.Twelve minutes
I don't know him. He doesn't know me. Neither of us needs to engage but what's an evening without risk? An evening without an element of surprise? People around us politely mask their surprise. Surprise can be a shared gift, so we see. He takes me in his arms. His embrace enfolds me like layers of liquid chocolate. I'm aware of almost nothing else now. In the next twelve minutes, I'm not aware of moving or even of breathing. I remember smiling.
Twelve minutes. They last forever and pass in the blink of an eye. For twelve minutes, we are one. The risk has paid off for both of us. "Perfect" echoes in my head moments before it leaves his lips.
I leave before we exchange names, before we make pleasantries, before either of us can murmur "next time..."
There's no glass slipper. We both know that magic only lasts for twelve minutes.
