These days, what people do in the privacy of their bedrooms and playrooms is seen to be of no concern to others. That does, I suppose, have to be accepted. Up to a point. To a certain extent, anyway. But, as with every rule, there are exceptions - people must be careful not to allow their moral fibre to be sapped. Basic standards of decency and decorum should be maintained - who can argue with that?
Let us remember the shining example of the Clean-Up TV Campaign, launched in 1963 by Mary Whitehouse, her husband Ernest and the Reverend Basil and Mrs Norah Buckland. Old-fashioned names, but solid, traditional values!
In 1972, Mrs Whitehouse's National Viewers' and Listeners' Association, with the backing of the Nationwide Festival of Light, presented to Parliament a Petition for Public Decency, backed by nearly 1.5 million signatures. Nearly 1.5 MILLION! Impressive! Warms the cockles... err, the ventricles of your heart, doesn't it!
I'm so glad that SquireRaglan has finally recognised me (last paragraph of his Profile refers). A good Network of those committed to maintaining standards would be marvellous! Meanwhile, keep decent.
