I am a professional man, a lawyer by training and working for a large government agency. I have pictures of the real me. I'll not promise to provide them, but they will be provided subject to the criteria I keep in my head.

I start with my job because I suppose it is a very big part of my life. It is a deadly serious job and that does not sit so well with my outlook on life; I tend not to take very much very seriously, even in the face of some VERY serious people, I'm the one that is likely to say something totally inappropriate.

But when I take something seriously, I take it very seriously indeed.

I love using language, which is handy, seeing as it is an important tool of my trade. I love to play with words, have fun with them and toy with them. For example; what type of person would I be referring to as 'singed minge'? Should be easy for any fan of cryptic crosswords. I don't tend to do those myself these days, but I used to enjoy the Telegraph one.

I am 35 years' old with a mental age that can dip to about 15 and peak at about 50.

I feel completely at home in a three-piece suit and wear a pocket-watch when I set off for work. If I liked hats, I daresay it would be a bowler hat. At home I'm a scruffy urchin and a bit of a Fat Face victim.

I have just started my own internet retail business on the side of the day job. I have a degree from the University of Durham and a professional postgraduate qualification. So on paper I'm smart. I have my own doubts about that, though.

I love to cook. Man cooking - ugly, brutish meat pies (I do a mean hand-raised hot water crust pork pie) and stews and stuff like that. Makes me sound like a carnivore, which would be true. Vegetables are what food eat. In an effort to make myself more appetising to the ladies, I also like to cook pasta, proper pizza (dough from scratch) and bread. My signature dish would be tagliatelle with a cream cheese and smoked salmon sauce.

I like to read; mostly I read trash - sci-fi and fantasy, though some of the books in those genres are pleasingly well-written. I read too much serious stuff at work to exert my mind to any degree when reading for pleasure.

My main hobby is roleplaying (of the dungeons and dragons variety) and painting little miniature models. I really do hope that this does not make me sound too geeky. Unless you like geeks, in which case I am very geeky. I actually play these games with some pretty high-level people (medicine, another government agency, business...), which makes me feel much better about it! Basically I played these games as a teen. Now I am (again, on paper) an adult and I have money, so I don't have to save my pocket money up for it!

I am a dog lover. I don't trust cats. They know something that I don't.

I love walking at night, when the air smells more exciting. I am comfortable with silence, in fact I need silence every day. I adore being gently stroked, ghostly soft, by a girl's fingernails. I could enjoy nothing more than that for hours. Rain is something that does not bother me, in fact I rather like it. The Sun is better though. I can't get enough of the sight of pretty girls in the summer months. I'll add more random things as they occur to me.

I have never claimed consistency as one of my virtues and do not require it in others. In fact, consistency is not a virtue! I am almost impossible to offend; I assume until shown otherwise that no offence was meant and I am usually right. If offence is meant, then the opinion hardly matters, does it?

My taste in music is pretty broad, from Madness and Sting, to Madonna (early and late), Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas and Lordi - those crazy guys in monster outfits that won Eurovision a few years back. Also quite keen on the Gorillaz.

I don't smoke - stopped that about eight years' ago. I do drink, sometimes too much, but not usually on a school night. Red wine is my tipple.

I am here because I have known since I was fifteen, or perhaps even earlier, that I was into kink. And I did nothing about it. Got myself well and truly stuck in a vanilla life and here I am (hopefully not too late) looking to truly find out about myself.

So, I am new to the scene. I have started going to some local munches; Maidstone and Folkestone so far and very much enjoying chatting to the folks there and getting to know just a little bit more about myself.

I know what I want BDSM to be for me; a way of expressing myself with someone I can love totally and someone who trusts me totally in return. It will be a healthy, positive thing when it happens - a positive influence in my life and, I hope, someone else's. (Um, at least one other person's!!)

I don't like the image of a Dom trying to exert authority by shouting or through aggression. For me authority comes from confidence and self-knowledge. It is a word, a touch or a look, though perhaps the occasional burst of controlled emotion could liven things up. My ideal sub would be a lady who knows that she is beautiful and wants to be more so, she is self-confident, a bit cheeky and has an opinion all of her own and would not be afraid to express it. If you are not that person, I would want to help you be that person.
