A group for pedants.
The aim of this group is to allow people with a fetish for what they see as poor English usage to debate this and to make an impact on IC's boards without hijacking threads or boring others senseless.
The plan is this. Yes - to debate things here, but also to make our point on the boards themselves in the least intrusive way possible.
Members will undertake to post here, in this group, on any poor usage they discover on the boards. The only thing they will post on the thread containing the perceived error is a link to their post here. That way, the thread is uninterrupted and the debate takes place between those who care, rather than those who couldn't give a faff.
These posts show how this can work:

It is our hope that this will encourage precision and enhance communication whilst diminishing the anger people feel when the pedant strikes.
To be a member here you must join our network. To have a network request approved you must send a memo with links to examples of your pedantry and show that your posts are not trivial and annoying, but genuine attempts to improve the meaning, precision and impact of words and phrases within a thread.
Thoughts on best practice, as it develops, will be recorded here:

Best to all.
