The Glasgow United Munch
Held on the fourth Thursday of each month from 8pm until around midnight. The only exception to this is in December when the pubs are stowed out with works Christmas nights out when the munch would normally be on.
No one is in charge of this wonderful munch. We do encourage everyone whether you are a newbie, oldie, single or attached to come along and make new friends and enjoy one another's company.
We also encourage everyone to go to any club or munches of their choice throughout the country.Venue
The flagship J D Wetherspoon renaissance bar and restaurant known as The Counting House right in the heart of the City Centre district, within walking distance from Buchanan subway station and Queen Street train station and a few minutes walk from Central Station.
We meet in the corner room which is the only room in what is quite a large pub, which looks out to George Square on one side and St. Vincent Place on the other side. There are paintings of Mary Queen of Scots and John Knox in this room as well. We used to have sole use of the room and reserved signs on the tables but the pub no longer do this for us. Munch-goers tend to fill the room from the bigger tables in the centre of the room outwards, and any non-munchers using the same room tend to use the small tables in the window seats on the edge of the room.
Because we meet in one of Glasgow's busiest and most central pubs and because there is a high likelihood that some munchers may bump into work colleagues, friends and family at the bar, we ask people to come in their normal clothes/streetwear and to come along to chat with friends and about club events and have a laugh but not to engage in any light play at the munch. Because of the reasons mentioned the munch is not the best place to turn up wearing only your latest harness or eyecatching rubber gear and gasmask or for subs to be ordered on to their knees or made to bark like a dog or be slapped in the face!Entrances
If you enter through the 2 St. Vincent Place entrance. Head towards the nearest corner room on your very right.
If you enter through 24 George Square. Head towards the nearest corner room on your left.
