The event was in celebration of our sexual diversity; Spike Rhodes (organiser) felt it was an important time to stage such an event as new laws making it a criminal offence to posses 'extreme porn' come into force in the New Year. The awards also supported the Consenting Adult Action Network.
Our award was picked up by Cristian Torrent on the night. Porn Law commencement date now announced as 26th January

Against extreme and unjust laws.
CAAN is taking action about the extreme porn ban set to commence in January 2009 when the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill becomes law. We are fighting the criminalisation of the possession of pornography which features consenting adults. We will fight propaganda which spreads the lie that looking at extreme pornography inspires people to commit non-consensual acts. We are against all insidious and unjust laws which cause wider discrimination and criminalisation of adults who engage in informed consensual relationships with other adults.
